Visited Acme Oyster House during my trip to New Orleans and it did not disappoint. From the moment we stepped in, the vibe was lively and authentic — buzzing with local energy in the heart of the French Quarter. What stood out: The char-grilled oysters were outstanding — rich garlic-butter flavour with a hint of Parmesan, and perfectly cooked. The raw oysters on the half-shell were fresh, briny and served with knowledgeable shuckers visible behind the bar (a fun part of the experience). Beyond oysters, the seafood specialities (jambalaya, étouffée, po-boys) were generous and well-prepared — good for sharing. Service was friendly and fast, despite a busy dining room. We had a queue to get in (worth it!) but once seated things moved smoothly. Atmosphere: casual, lively, full of character — exactly what I hoped for in New Orleans. Things to note: It’s busy — expect a wait during peak hours. While the food is excellent, some items can be a bit pricey (especially oysters at market price) so keep an eye on the menu. If you’re not an oyster fan, no worries — there are plenty of other solid options. Overall: Highly recommended if you’re looking for a fun, full-flavour New Orleans seafood experience. I’ll definitely go back on my next visit.

Went 2 nights in a row. I dont even like bread pudding, but glad I mad an exception cause it was great. Gator bites are a must try. Crab cakes are good. Their Char grilled oysters are top notch. Server were polite and food came out quick. Was worth waiting in line. I will go back when I'm in the Nola again.

Granted, I have only had the chargrilled oysters here, but let me tell you this - it was one of a kind! This was my first time having a grilled oyster, and they are incredible. They are sizzling, saturated in a buttery, garlicky sauce, and topped with cheese. The best part is the technique: you absolutely must use the French bread provided to soak up all that decadent, buttery oil that drips out and eat it. You have the option to add crab meat as an extra, which I did, but honestly, the oyster itself is so good you'll get the full flavor experience even without it. They offer bar-side seating, tables, and a shucker prep side where you can watch them work. A helpful tip is that even though the oysters don't need any additional sauces, try them with the extra options provided; you might find a variation you like even more than the classic. This is a simple, unforgettable treat.

There is a line during high hours, so come early. Grilled charbroiled oysters were definitely 6 out of 5 stars :D. Red bean and rice and the jambalaya were 4/5. They are good, but a bit salty. The crocodile fries was also 4/5. It’s like chicken but a bit tougher. The fried crab cake with a bed of corn was a no for me !! I don’t like mustard and it has a very strong mustard taste.

We ordered half a dozen raw oysters, half a dozen chargrilled oysters, the Boom Boom Crab, and the gumbo. Overall, everything tasted really good. The gumbo had a very distinctive flavor, a bit salty with a strong peppery note, but still enjoyable. The Boom Boom Crab tasted similar to a popcorn-shrimp style dish, but not overly sweet. Both kinds of oysters were excellent and very fresh, though the only downside was that they didn’t seem to be rinsed thoroughly, you could still feel a tiny bit of grit. All in all, Acme is a solid spot. If the wait time is under an hour, I think it’s definitely worth trying

When visiting the town of New Orleans, one must know that although some believe in Voodoo, some believe in witch craft, and some believe that the Saints are going to the Superbowl to win. EVERYONE in this town believes in Acme Oysters and the "chargrilled" are a sure thing. I could NOT agree more, get two dozen, you won't be disappointed!! Chargrilled sets Acme apart for the garlic butter and spices they use. Along with the bread to soak up the juice. Absolutely worth every penny of market value of these amazing morsels. Add some draft beer, tall boy, and your set!! Everything on the menu is amazing!!! Enjoy!!!

We visited this restaurant during Mardi Gras and were pleasantly surprised by the experience, despite the crowds. The staff handled the crowd and lines efficiently, ensuring a smooth dining experience. The line moved quickly, which was a relief considering the festive atmosphere. The food was delicious, offering a wide variety of Cajun dishes. Each dish was impressive, but the charbroiled oysters stood out as a must-try. The étouffe and gumbo were equally delectable. The ambiance was cool and inviting, with jazz music playing in the background and a vibrant New Orleans vibe. It was a perfect setting for a memorable dining experience.

First time to New Orleans, this was the first place I stopped. I had no idea what to get. I sat at the bar, waited till they had a break from shucking the oysters. I said what I liked (Pretty much everything on the menu) and was given a quick recommendation and I went with it. Etouffee with Crawfish tails was an excellent appetizer as I watched my oysters being shucked. The size of these things caught me off guard. Apparently it's the season for Oysters down here. The Oysters were the best I ever had, I used to hate 'em, then I got good ones in Maine, and loved 'em, but I think these took the cake. Staff was really friendly (but busy)
